Overview: Global Technology Infrastructure team is responsible for delivering infrastructure solutions to the other groups(LOB). These solutions are predominantly used in global operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration Sybase production and development servers and would be involved in projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Hands-on technical requirement
Monitoring our work delivery mechanisms (chat channel, change systems, and request systems) for incoming work.
Working outside core business hours when required (this will include becoming part of weekend on-call support and planned work rota system where appropriate).
Co-ordinating server outages/upgrades with relevant teams.
Building/upgrading ASE servers, adhering to bank deployment and security standards.
Required Technical skills
Very strong Sybase ASE (15, 12.5)
Sybase Replication Server V12
ASE/Repserver Internals
Strong Performance and Tuning Skills
Strong UNIX understanding & command line skills
Optional Skills
Strong Perl, Shell scripting
Exposure to SUN Solaris
Exposure to Tivoli, Enterprise Security Manager is a plus
Experience with SSH and its configuration
Personel
Self-starter with ability to acquire new skills autonomously
Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills to drive projects to successful conclusion
Provide coaching and receive assistance when required.
Team Structure
The position reports to Manager Locally and Globally. 24x7 on-call support on a rota basis is expected.
Experienced Required
Excellent technical knowledge gained from a hands on role within a global
organization.
Experience of Sybase ASE in a mission critical environment
Experience of Sybase Replication Server in a commercial environment
